Hydraulic fracturing is becoming rapidly popular due to the more recent discoveries of the various worldwide shale plays along with increased use of horizontal drilling within tight formations. Used to stimulate production by pumping a sand/water mixture at high pressure, hydraulic fracturing is back in the forefront and headlines for the oil and gas industrym especially in regard to the supposed fear of environmental risks.
