Description

Flow analysis is an approach to automated wet chemical assays that has experienced rapid developments in recent decades. Analyses are usually carried out in a closed environment, small sample/reagent volumes are required, the sampling rate is high, it is possible to monitor unstable products, glassware is not required, waste generation is minimal and reaction kinetics are efficiently exploited. The flow analyser is amenable to full automation and miniturisation. The number of applications is constantly increasing, especially in the fields of food production and agriculture, environmental monitoring and water quality/treatment and biomedical/pharmaceutical laboratories. The full potential of flow analysis has, however, seldom been exploited. This book therefore provides a fundamental scientific basis and familiarisation with the practical aspects of flow analysis for a wide community of researchers, students and laboratory staff.
